Howl at the Pink Full Moon!
Sailing through spring! Come aboard the Schooner Freda B for our distinctive once-a-month sail in honor of the full moon on Wednesday, April 5th!
This full moon heralded the appearance of the moss pink, or wild ground phlox—one of the first spring flowers. It’s significance as the start of Spring has also led it to be known as the Sprouting Grass Moon, the Egg Moon, and the Fish Moon.
Of course we like to get a head start on the sailing season. We have weekly sails on Saturday evenings and Sunday mornings, plus a special Earth Day Wildlife Sail on Saturday, April 22.
“Opening Day on the Bay is like New Year’s Eve for yachting.” – Sausalito Historical Society
Since 1917, Opening Day on the Bay has marked the ceremonial start of the Bay’s cruising season. This year it’s on April 30th, and the Schooner Freda B will be dressed up for the parade, sail, and blessing of the fleet.
